At its deepest, the fjord is about 1,300 meters (4,265 ft.) below sea level and extends over 200 kilometres (124 miles) inland to the national parks of Jotunheimen and Jostedalsbreen. The sheer mountainsides framing the fjord reach heights of over 1,000 meters (3,280 ft), and the average width of this majestic fjord is roughly 4.5 km (2.8 miles).
