  • Day 2: Norway in a Nutshell® to Bergen

Get an early start to Oslo Central Station for the start of your scenic journey on the Bergen Railway. This train ride, voted as one of the best in the world, takes you over the “mountainous rooftop” of Norway and through charming villages like Gol and and Geilo on your way towards Bergen.

At Myrdal, switch to the Flåm Railway for an incredible 20 km ride with a 900-metre descent to the beautiful town of Flåm. Here, you have about 45 minutes of free time, which you may wish to use by learning about the history of the world’s steepest train line at the Flåm Railway Documentation Centre. (Free admission is included.)

From Flåm, continue by boat through the Aurlandsfjord and into the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nærøyfjord, the narrowest fjord in Europe. This is perhaps the most beautiful part of the Sognefjord with its mighty waterfalls and small farms clinging to the steep mountainsides.

At Gudvangen, a bus takes you through the magnificent Nærøy Valley to Voss, the connection point for the final train ride to Bergen.

Spend the night at a hotel in Bergen.

    Departure from Oslo: 08:11
Short break in Flåm: 14:25 to 15:10
    Arrival to Bergen: 20:34

We recommend that you book luggage transfer for the Norway in a Nutshell® part of your travel. Your luggage will be picked up in Oslo and will be waiting for you upon arrival in Bergen. Pack an overnight bag if you spend the night in Flåm. Price per item is €40.

  • Day 3: The Capital of the Fjords

Spend the first half of the day as you wish in Bergen, the “Capital of the Fjords”. Though this is Norway’s second largest city, it still has the charming atmosphere of a small town and your hotel in the city centre makes a great starting point for visiting the main attractions. Here you’ll find the old wharf of Bryggen—a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with well preserved old houses, the vibrant fish and flower market, the Fløibanen funicular with great views and many museums.

In the afternoon, make your way to the central station for your return train ride to Oslo, where you’ll spend the night after your late evening arrival.

    Departure from Bergen: 15:58
    Arrival to Oslo: 22:17

  • Day 4: Departure from Oslo

For transportation to Oslo-Gardermoen Airport, you can take the Flytoget express train from Oslo Central Station or a taxi directly from your hotel. If your flight is in the afternoon, take the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping, visit one of Oslo’s museums or just relax at a café to reflect on your wonderful holiday.
