Riding the famous train from Oslo to Bergen via Flåm
The Oslo to Bergen by train experience starts with a ride on the Bergensbanen (Bergen Railway), taking you over the rugged Hardangervidda mountain plateau. From the station at Myrdal, situated 866 metres above sea level, your journey continues on the Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana). This popular train ride offers breathtaking scenery as its vintage rail cars weave their way down the mountains on a 20-kilometre journey to the idyllic fjord village of Flåm, with a stop for a photo at the dazzling Kjosfossen waterfall.
Another major highlight of the train ride from Oslo to Bergen via Flåm is the 2-hour cruise on the steep-sided fjords of Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord. From Gudvangen, you’ll transfer from boat to coach bus for the next leg of the journey, a thrilling ride around the 13 hairpin bends of the Stalheimskleiva mountain road. In Voss, you’ll reconnect to the Bergen Railway for the final part of your picturesque journey to Bergen.

For example, we can combine a trip to Geirangerfjord and a Norway in a Nutshell tour in one package for you. Another suggested addition is an extended train journey from Bergen to Stavanger, with the possibility of a day trip to the famous Pulpit Rock.
Why not add a cruise to your Oslo to Bergen railway itinerary and see even more fjords? A Hurtigruten cruise along the west coast from Bergen is a wonderful extension to any train tour package in Norway.
