See some of the world's best preserved Viking ships
The Viking Ship Museum (Vikingskipshuset) houses 3 Viking long boats, which were used as burial vessels. These were excavated on the shores of the Oslofjord.
Oseberg is the first of the 3 ships. It is believed that it was a pleasure ship and was the burial chamber of the Viking Queen Åse. The second, the Gokstad, was presumed to be a sailing ship for a Viking king. The third, the Tune, has yet to be restored, so it remains a bit of a mystery.
The Viking Ship Museum is currently closed for reconstruction and will reopen in 2025-2026.
