See some of the world's best preserved Viking ships
The Viking Ship Museum (Vikingskipshuset) houses three Viking long boats — used as burial vessels — excavated on the shores of the Oslofjord. The first, the Oseberg, was a pleasure ship and is said to be the burial chamber of the Viking Queen Åse. The second, the Gokstad, was presumed to be a sailing ship for a Viking king. The third, the Tune, has yet to be restored, so it remains a bit of a mystery.
Also on display are various household artefacts and sailing equipment from the Viking era.
