Itinerary

A day-by-day plan to guide your journey.

  • Day 1: ARRIVAL IN OSLO

After your arrival at Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport, make your way into Oslo city centre. Many travellers opt to take the express train to Oslo Central Station, located close to your accommodation. If you arrive early, you can take this time to start exploring the Norwegian capital. You could wander past the Oslo Opera House, visit the Munch Museum or tour the Akershus Fortress. For dinner, we recommend strolling down to the Aker Brygge harbour, where there are many restaurants to choose from.

Spend the night at Thon Hotel Opera or similar.

Take the day to explore the Norwegian capital at your own pace. You could book a guided bus tour to see the highlights of the city. You won’t want to miss the famous landmarks, such as the beautiful Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Royal Palace, Akershus Fortress, and Oslo City Hall.

For more sightseeing opportunities, you could walk along Karl Johans street or take a ferry to the nearby Bygdøy peninsula. Here you can visit attractions like the Fram or Kon-Tiki Museum.

  • Day 3: RAILWAY JOURNEY TO TRONDHEIM

This morning you’ll take a scenic train journey from Oslo Central Station to Trondheim. Board the half-day (6.5-hour) rail journey aboard the Dovrebanen train. This route passes over the Dovre mountain plateau, through historic towns and nature preservations and includes great variations in terrain and altitude. The train ride concludes with a steep, curvy descent to the lowlands of Trondheim.

Spend the afternoon discovering Trondheim, known as a medieval city, at your leisure. You could wander through Bakklandet, an idyllic neighbourhood full of history and culture. Here you’ll find the charming Old Town Bridge and the remarkable Nidaros Cathedral, with architecture that rivals Notre Dame de Paris. You could also visit Norway’s national music museum, Ringve, or visit the islet of Munkholmen just off the coast.

Spend the night at Thon Hotel Nidaros or similar.

    Included:

Bergen, “The Capital of the Fjords”, is an international city with all the charms of a small town. Here you’ll find Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with remarkably preserved old houses, a lively fish and flower market, cable cars offering stunning views, great museums and more.

Bergen is also known for its cultural museums that cover the city’s history, architecture, music and art. We recommend visiting the Edvard Grieg Museum and the KODE art museum, Scandinavia’s largest museum for art and music. If you wish to start exploring the fjords today, optional fjord cruises are available.
