We recommend that all Nordic Visitor travellers read through the following information about our self-guided tours, travelling with the Hurtigruten cruise ships, boarding the Norway in a Nutshell tour, the terms and availability, and other useful information for your travels.
OUR SELF-GUIDED TOURS
This is an independent, self-guided tour. All accommodation, train and cruise tickets (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor, but travellers are ultimately responsible for getting to hotels and to any train or cruise departure points by the specified times.
HURTIGRUTEN CRUISE-LINE
The cruise includes deck space, so your luggage will be stored in a luggage room. For added security we recommend that you bring a lock with you and a backpack where you store your valuables that you carry with you while onboard.
All ships have restaurants, a cafeteria, laundry room, WIFI and on-board activities. The Hurtigruten Coastal voyages are not like conventional cruises as there are 11 different ships that vary in size and age that sail the Norwegian coast on different dates. Optional shore excursions are available onboard, and we recommend that you pre-book them (can be done until 4 weeks prior to arrival, depending on availability). You can disembark the ship in ports where the stop is for more than 30 minutes.
GEIRANGER CRUISE
Included is a cruise through Geirangerfjord on the ship, MS Geirangerfjord II. This fjord cruise journey is about 120 km each way and departs from the harbor by the Rutebilstasjonen. On board you can purchase coffee and light refreshments while travelling from the ocean to the fjord, enjoying spectacular views along the way.
