Day 1: The Capital of Norway

Arrive to Gardermoen Airport in Oslo. For an easy and comfortable way to get to your hotel in central Oslo, we are happy to arrange a private transfer for you.

If you arrive early, we suggest buying an Oslo Pass for free travel on all public transit along with free admission to over 30 museums and attractions plus special offers on entertainment, restaurants, shops and more. The pass can be purchased at tourist information centres or at most hotels and major attractions in the city. Spend the night at a hotel in central Oslo.

Day 2: Over Norway’s Rooftop

Early in the morning, head to Oslo Central Station, where you’ll commence the Norway in a Nutshell® railway journey towards Flåm. This train ride, voted one of the 20 best in the world, takes you over Norway’s “mountainous rooftop” and through charming villages like Gol and Geilo. In Myrdal, you’ll switch trains to the Flåm Railway for an incredible 20 km ride with a 900-metre descent to the beautiful village of Flåm. Here, you’ll have free admission to the Flåm Railway Documentation Centre, located right beside Flåm Station, where you can learn about the construction of the world’s steepest railway line. From Flåm, your journey continues by boat to Balestrand, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Majestic Fjords & Glacier Views

Start the day with an exciting day tour to a glacier! The first part of this excursion takes you past waterfalls and steep mountainsides on a boat ride along the Fjærlandsfjord to Fjærland, known as the village beneath the glacier. From there, a shuttle bus takes you the rest of the way to the amazing Bøyabreen Glacier and the Norwegian Glacier Centre. Those who choose the early departure will also be able to visit the Supphellebreen glacier. Afterwards, you will make the return journey to Balestrand, where you will spend another night.

Depart from Balestrand: 08:05 or 11:50
Return to Balestrand: 16:50

Highlights:

  • Fjærland
  • Bøyabreen Glacier
  • Balestrand

Day 4: Sail from Balestrand to Bergen

Today it’s time to head to Bergen, and what better way than with a scenic ferry ride along the Sognefjord, the deepest (1,309 m) and longest (204 km) fjord in Norway. Those on the early ferry will get a good head start on sightseeing in Bergen, one of the most important cultural centres in Norway. For a relaxing overview of this historic city, we recommend the Bergens Expressen mini-train tour, offering such sights as the Maria Church, the Rosenkrantz Tower and King Håkon’s Hall as well as amazing city views from Fjellveien (“the mountain road”). Spend the night in Bergen.

Day 5: Highlights of Bergen

Despite being a major cruise port, Bergen has retained the atmosphere and charm of a small town and most attractions are easily visited on foot. Here you’ll find the old wharf of Bryggen—a UNESCO World Heritage site, centuries-old houses, a vibrant fish and flower market and an interesting range of museums. Or, for a bird’s eye view of the city, take a ride up the Flöibanen cable cars to the top of Mount Fløyen. Spend another night in Bergen.

On arrival to the city in the afternoon, you have the opportunity to dive deeper into attractions like the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Ski Museum, the Viking Ship Museum, the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Royal Palace, the Polar ship “Fram”, Akershus Fortress and others. You can also check out the local vibes on the main shopping street, Bogstadveien, or just relax in one of Oslo’s many peaceful parks. Spend the night in Oslo.
