Museum in Tromsø dedicated to arctic nature and wildlife and polar expeditions
In just a 5-minute walk from the centre of Tromsø you will discover Polaria, housed in a rather unique building made to look like ice floes in the rough arctic seas.
This fascinating museum contains several interesting exhibits about arctic hunting and famous polar expeditions along with an arctic aquarium and a panoramic cinema. Here you can take a virtual helicopter journey over the rugged west coast of Spitsbergen in Svalbard, get a first-hand experience of a snowstorm or polar bear encounter and visit some friendly seals.
Polaria was established in connection with the Norwegian Polar Institute in Tromsø. Through knowledge-based exhibitions created in collaboration with leading scientists, Polaria offers a window into some of the climate and environmental research conducted in the Arctic.
