The elaborate church where Norwegian monarchs get married
The Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) is the main church for the diocese of Oslo as well as the official setting for such prominent events as royal wedding ceremonies. Dedicated in 1697, the cathedral has been reconstructed and renovated many times throughout the centuries.
In the 1850’s the interior was changed from Baroque to Neo-Gothic style, but was restored to its original form in the 1960’s. During this restoration many decorations from the 18th century were uncovered. Today, Oslo Cathedral stands as a beautiful and elaborate focal point in Oslo.
