  • Day 1: December 21 – Welcome to Norway & Leisure Time

For an easy and comfortable way to get to your hotel in central Oslo, we are happy to arrange a private transfer for you.

If you arrive early, we suggest buying an Oslo Pass for free travel on all public transit along with free admission to more than 30 museums and attractions plus special offers on entertainment, restaurants, shops and more. The pass can be purchased at tourist information centres or at most hotels and major attractions in the city.

  • Day 2: DECEMBER 22 -TROMSØ & NORTHERN LIGHTS HUNT

Start the day with a flight to Tromsø, a small but bustling city with an abundance of art and history along with good cafes, a cosmopolitan vibe and plenty of natural beauty. After settling into your hotel, you have most of the day to explore the city at your leisure.

Later in the evening, after enjoying dinner in the city, get ready to head out into the countryside for a chance to see some of the brightest northern lights in the world!* This guided coach tour also gives you a taste of Sami culture as your guide tells you about local folklore and customs while you search for the mysterious auroras.

Spend the night at a hotel in Tromsø.

    * The northern lights (aurora borealis) are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

  • Day 3: DECEMBER 23 - LEISURE DAY IN TROMSØ & HURTIGRUTEN CRUISE

Explore Tromsø at your leisure today. Notable attractions include the Polar Museum, the Art Museum of Northern Norway and the Arctic Cathedral. For a fantastic bird’s eye view over the city, it’s well worth a ride up to Mt. Storsteinen (421 m/1382 ft) on the Fjellheisen cable car.

For the next leg of your journey, board the Hurtigruten ship at 18:30 for a cruise to Kirkenes. Sailing along the fjord-studded coastline, this voyage offers incredible views of Norway’s most famous landscapes along with on-board entertainment, gourmet dining and other convenient amenities. For nature lovers, we recommend bringing a pair of binoculars!

Spend the night on board the ship in a cabin with private facilities.

Christmas, which arrives early in the Nordic countries on the evening of December 24, is celebrated on board according to Norwegian traditions. Passengers and crew will celebrate with a lovely Christmas buffet, singing Christmas carols, and opening presents, and Santa Claus will pay a visit.

Spend another night on board the cruise ship.

  • Day 5: DECEMBER 25 - SNOWMOBILING & A SNOW HOTEL STAY

At 9:00, the ship arrives at Kirkenes, located 400 km (240 miles) above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway. With a population of just 3,300, including the native Sami people, this charming town boasts an impressive range of attractions and winter activities.

After heading to town and checking in at the hotel in Kirkenes, where you can store your luggage for the next night, it is time to head out on your first activity, a snowmobile safari over the frozen landscape. You will first visit an old Norwegian farmhouse, where you will be kitted out in warm protective clothing and given a lesson on how to operate your snowmobile. The tour will make stops for photographs, and as you will be sharing the sled, you can switch drivers. The tour will also include a small picnic, served in nature.

In the afternoon, it's time to head to the one-and-only Snow Hotel. After your transfer to this unique hotel and enjoy a welcome drink at the Snow Bar, feast on a three-course meal by the fireplace at the Gabba Restaurant and then prepare for an amazing night in your special suite made of snow and ice!*

Spend the night at the Snow Hotel in Kirkenes.

*We will provide additional information regarding your overnight at the Snow Hotel, such as details about the facilities, what type of clothing to bring, what is provided by the hotel, etc.

    Highlights Highlights
  • Day 6: DECEMBER 26 - DOG-SLEDDING IN THE VAST ARCTIC WILDERNESS

Spend the morning warming up in the Snow Hotel’s sauna and enjoying a hearty breakfast before returning to the hotel in Kirkenes. If you have time before your transfer, you may also visit the reindeer park right next to the Snow Hotel.

Then get ready to experience a true Arctic adventure—a thrilling dog sledding tour through the Pasvik Valley along Norway’s northeastern border. This activity includes light refreshments and basic instruction on how to “mush”, or drive a dog sled.

Spend the night at a hotel in Kirkenes.
