Located in an old penitentiary dating back to 1725, the Maritime Museum (Sjøfartsmuseet) in Trondheim is dedicated to the history of shipping, whaling and fishing in the region from the 16th century onwards. Exhibits include model ships, marine instruments and objects recovered from shipwrecks.
