Stiftsgården is the official residence of the Norwegian Royal Family in Trondheim, and it is also Scandinavia’s largest timber mansion with around 140 rooms. Completed in 1778, this grand mansion is a prime example of Norwegian wooden architecture of its period. The mansion is open during summer-time only to those on a guided tour (conducted in Norwegian and English).
