Visit this scenic town for a stroll among the orchards, which is a wonderful experience any time of year.
The charming village of Lofthus can be found along the Sørfjord, an arm of the Hardangerfjord. Here you can visit the old stone church dating back to 1250 or the hideaway of Edvard Grieg, the famous Norwegian composer who drew inspiration from this unspoilt nature. Lofthus also offers a superb view of the Folgefonna glacier.
This area is known mainly for its many fruit trees, and during the annual Cherry Festival in May, Lofthus is transformed with delicate blossoms and a sweet aroma in the air. But no matter when you visit, a stroll among the orchards is a wonderful experience any time of year.
