From Bergen, the early Bergensbanen train carries you to Voss, where you will board a bus bound for Gudvangen. In September the bus drives over Stalheimskleiva, Northern Europe’s steepest road, where the bus stops at the Stalheim Hotel, giving you chance to enjoy the panorama over the fjords. In October the bus takes you the classic route on the main road, as the Stalheimskleiva is not open during the winter.
At Gudvangen, you will embark on a short, scenic fjord cruise to Flåm, including a passage through Nærøyfjord, the narrowest fjord in Europe. With its mighty peaks and tumbling waterfalls, this UNESCO World Heritage site has been hailed as the most breathtaking section of Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. Sailing up Aurlandsfjord, the voyage ends at Flåm, a charming village where you will enjoy dinner at your hotel (included in package price).
