Introduction

This tour will give you the flavor of Scandinavia’s best ski resorts. Here you will find history, excitement and fun in a charming and friendly environment. Your first destination is Norway´s oldest skiing resort, Geilo. Geilo offers unique charm and is considered by many the best ski resort in Scandinavia. It is located in wonderful natural surroundings, with varied terrain and skiing facilities of high international standard. Your second destination is Hemsedal. This is a place where fun meets extraordinary nature. Steep and family hills combine to form this beautiful mountain terrain that some call “The perfect ski resort”. The last ski resort on this flamboyant tour is the king of all mountains in Scandinavia, the Olympic Village Lillehammer. The atmosphere here hasn´t changed a bit since the Olympics in 1994 with its amazing slopes and beautiful surroundings. Geilo, Hemsedal, and Lillehammer’s primary goals are to entertain and satisfy families, cross-country skiers, snowboarders, alpinists and thrill seekers from all over the world.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival/Oslo
Arrival at Gardermoen Airport; meet-and-greet followed by transfer to your accommodations in the heart of Oslo City. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Oslo Tourist Pass, which provides free travel on all public transport, free admission to over 25 museums and sites, discounts on further attractions and sightseeing, restaurants and shops. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Oslo City Central.

Day 2 From Oslo to Geilo
Start the day in Oslo by visiting the Norwegian Folk Museum and learn about the fascinating Viking culture. Leave Oslo around noon and start the drive through Hallingdal Valley on your way to Geilo, a charming mountain village. On this scenic drive, you will pass a delightful ski centre and travel through beautiful forested dales and plateaus. Stay in a hotel or cottage in Geilo for the next four nights.

Day 3-5 Geilo - An Amazing Winter Paradise
Geilo’s safe and comfortable ski lifts will take you where you want to go, allowing you to enjoy everything from gentle slopes for beginners to steep hangs for speed and excitement. Geilo is also where snowboarders will find their mecca, with terrain parks, jumps, rails and one of Norway’s most awesome pipes. For the youngsters, the Geilo side is well suited with separate ski slopes and snowboard areas for kids. Here you will find regularly arranged activities and competitions and also a heated playhouse for tired toddlers. Children can unfold in safe surroundings; all is set for a pleasant family holiday. Geilo also offers a variety of activities such as dog-sledding, reindeer sleigh rides, moose safaris and winter horseriding. Or, if you are looking for more action, snow scooter rides or motocross activities are available.

Day 6-8 Hemsedal – The Perfect Ski Resort
After a nice breakfast, you will leave Geilo and head to your next destination, Hemsedal. On your way, you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this great valley. Don’t be surprised to see a moose in the area; they are big and beautiful. Hemsedal Skisenter is an alpine resort of international class with wide, well-groomed slopes. Hemsedal is one of the most popular destinations for citizens of Oslo. It is a lively resort with a charming atmosphere and lots of fun both for adults and children. The area offers a snowboard park and special area for children to play. The resort operates 21 lifts, has a capacity of 28,500 people per hour and offers 210km of cross-country tracks throughout the valley. Stay in a hotel or cottage in Hemsedal for the next three nights.

Day 9-12 Olympic atmosphere in Lillehammer
Your last skiing destination will be the famous Olympic village, Lillehammer. Not only does this place offers various skiing possibilities, but also plays a big part in Norwegian alpine history. From Hemsedal, you will be passing the beautiful Randsfjord, which will take you to an old village called Gjövik. From Gjövik, it is straight into the Olympic village. In Lillehammer, you can visit the Maihaugen open-air museum, the Olympic Museum and/or the Lysgårdsbakken Olympic Arena. This charming ski resort offers 13 lifts and 28 beautiful slopes with an view over Gudbrandsdalen, Lillhammer and surroundings. This is a perfect family ski resort and the most famous ski resort in Scandinavia following its hosting of the Winter Olympics 1994. Stay in a hotel or cottage in Lillehammer for the next four nights.

Day 13 From Lillehammer to Oslo
Start the day in Lillehammer and then drive to Oslo to close the circle. In Oslo, you can spend the rest of the day visiting Frognerparken, the Holmenkollen ski jumping arena, or just relax and enjoy a good meal at one of the capital’s many fabulous restaurants. Stay in a hotel in Oslo City Central.

Day 14 Departure
Transfer by express train to Gardermoen International Airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, then you will have time for some last-minute shopping, to visit one of Oslo’s many museums or just relax at a café after an enjoyable holiday.
