Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to the capital of Finland
On arrival at Helsinki airport, you will be met and transferred to your comfortable hotel in the heart of the city. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Helsinki Card, which gives you access to all main sights, museums and public transportation. Spend the night in Helsinki.

Day 2: From city to sea magic
Your morning begins with a tasty buffet breakfast, followed by a day to explore the Finnish capital. Sights of interest are, amongst others, the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, New Opera House, Sibelius Park and Monument and Underground Temple. In the late afternoon, you will board an overnight cruise ship heading off for Stockholm. Explore the various facilities available on board - cafes, restaurant and shops. Spend the night in the comfort of your cabin on board the ship.

Day 3: A taste of historic Stockholm
Enjoy breakfast on board as your ship sails through the Archipelago of over 24,000 islands and islets and arrives into Stockholm, the city of senses and the capital of Sweden. Built on 14 islands, you are never far from the water in Stockholm. After checking in at your centrally located hotel, you will have the rest of the day to check out all of what Stockholm has to offer. We recommend getting the Stockholm Card, which gives you access to most museums in Stockholm, the Stockholm underground and local buses. A visit to the Vasa Ship Museum and the City Hall, with its famous Blue Hall, where the Nobel Prize banquet is held each year, is highly recommended. In the afternoon, we recommend a visit to Fjäderholmarna, Stockholm’s closest archipelago island, where you can join a guided tour and enjoy Swedish handicraft and a choice of restaurants. Spend the night in Stockholm.

Day 4: Explore the art of Gripsholm Castle
After a traditional Scandinavian buffet breakfast, you will pick up your rental car and start your drive towards Mariefred and explore the 16th century Gripsholm Castle, with its historic interiors and art collection. Here you also find a ‘museum railroad’ with an old-fashioned steam train still running. After the stop, continue west and drive through the beautiful landscape until you reach the small town of Örebro, where you spend the night. Driving distance approx. 200 km.

Day 5: Castle and open air museum
After breakfast, explore this little city and visit the 14th century Örebro Castle and walk through the Wadköping area. Wadköping area is an open air museum with buildings and houses from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The houses and buildings were moved here to make room for new houses in the city. When ready, continue towards Oslo, the capital of Norway. On the way, make a stop at the Klässbols Linen Mill, which is open to visitors; here you’ll find quality linen goods for sale. Products from Klässbols are used by the Swedish Royal family, by Swedish embassies around the world, and by the hotels that accommodate the Nobel ceremony visitors. Spend the night in Oslo. Driving distance approx. 330 km.

Day 6: Scenic views
Start the day with a tasty breakfast at the hotel. While in Oslo, we recommend you see the world-famous Viking Ships, the Polar Exploration ship Fram, the amazing Vigeland Sculpture Park and other famous sights. In the afternoon, start your drive to Geilo, a charming mountain village, passing through the Hallingdal Valley en route. The scenic drive takes you through ski centres and beautiful forested dales and plateaux. Spend the night in Geilo. Driving distance approx. 240 km.

Day 7: Glaciers, fjords and crashing waterfalls
Leave Geilo and continue west through the Hardangervidda National Park right beside the awesome Hardangerfjord, with its spectacular views. Make a stop at the awesome Vøringfossen waterfall. From Vøringfossen, continue through the dramatic, narrow Måbødalen Valley, along Eidfjord. End the day in the wonderful city of Bergen, where you will spend the night. Driving distance approx. 250 km.

Day 8: City of Wonders

It’s time to relax a little and spend a leisurely day in Bergen. Bergen is a beautiful city, full of life and culture. Its many highlights include Bryggen - listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site - quaint old houses, a vibrant fish and flower market, cable cars offering stunning views, great museums and much more. Spend the night in Bergen.

Day 9: Fabulous Flåm and Norway’s longest fjord
From Bergen, continue your journey to the Sognefjorden - Norway’s longest and deepest fjord - passing the delightful towns of Stalheim and Voss before reaching your final destination of the day, Flåm. In Flåm, we recommend you take a trip on the famous Flåm Railway, regarded as one of the highlights of the Norway in a Nutshell® tour. The 20km, leisurely train journey from Flåm train station to the mountain station of Myrdal and back again down to Flåm, takes around 55 minutes each way. On the journey, you will be treated to some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in Norway, with an ever-changing panorama of tall mountains and cascading waterfalls. Spend the night in Flåm. Driving distance approx. 170 km.

Day 10: Exploring Europe’s grandest glacier
From Flåm, head towards Sogndal and then drive the Fjærlands Road to see Jostedal Glacier - mainland Europe’s largest icecap - and visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Continue via Lake Jølster, to Loen, past Stryn and on to Hellesylt, where you take the ferry on the lovely Geiranger Fjord, considered the most beautiful fjord in the world. Here you will find magnificent and impressive waterfalls, such as the Seven Sisters and the Bridal Veil. Your day will end in Geiranger, where you spend the night. Driving distance approx. 290 km.

Day 11: The inlands of Norway and Røros, a World Heritage Site
From Geiranger, drive to the inlands of Norway, towards the Swedish border. On the way, you pass through the Jotunheimen National Park and the mountain village of Lom and then head north to Dovre on your way to Røros, our final destination. The World Heritage-listed village of Røros has a charming atmosphere, boasting ancient houses and a labyrinth of tiny streets and alleys. Stay the night in Røros. Driving distance approx. 360 km.

Day 12: Into Sweden via the pretty village of Tällberg
Today, drive south along the Swedish border and then cross at Kopparleden and head to the pretty Swedish village of Tällberg, beautifully located by Lake Siljan. Make a stop in Mora and visit the home and museum of the artist Anders Zorn, who became one of Sweden’s most famous painters around 1900. In Nusnäs, you can visit the Dala Horse workshop, home to typical Swedish handicrafts. Here, you can buy some highly popular souvenirs, made on-site. Continue to Rättvik and visit the Rättvik church, whose history dates back 800 years. You can see the old church stables that were used to shelter people and horses. Spend the night in Tällberg. Driving distance approx. 360 km.

Day 13: A day of Swedish history and culture
Start your drive back to Stockholm, but make a short stop in Avesta for photos at the largest Dala Horse in Sweden, 13 metres high. Continue towards the capital of Sweden, where you will drop of your rental car and spend the night. Driving distance approx. 280 km.

Day 14: Explore the delights of Stockholm’s Old Town
Today you will have time off to explore the city’s amazing Old Town, with its narrow alleys and beautiful medieval houses. In the late afternoon, you will take an overnight cruise back to Helsinki.

Day 15: Helsinki and departure day
Passengers departing with the afternoon flight will have time for some last-minute shopping - a perfect way to end your holiday. Transfer from Helsinki to the airport.
