Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Oslo
Arrive to Gardermoen Airport in Oslo. For transportation to your accommodation in central Oslo, we recommend the Flytoget airport express train, which departs every 10 minutes.

If you arrive early, we suggest buying an Oslo Pass for free travel on all public transit along with free admission to over 30 museums and attractions plus special offers on entertainment, restaurants, shops and more. The pass can be purchased at tourist information centres or at most hotels and major attractions in the city.

Another idea is to go for a spin on the ice at the skating rink in the city centre (skate rentals available) before indulging in some Nordic cuisine at one of Oslo’s fine restaurants. Spend the night at a hotel in central Oslo.

Day 2: Tromsø & Northern Lights Mystery
Start the day with a flight to Tromsø, a small but bustling city with an abundance of art and history along with good cafes, a cosmopolitan vibe and plenty of natural beauty. After settling into your hotel, you have most of the day to explore your surroundings at your leisure.

Later in the evening after enjoying dinner in the city, get ready to head out into the countryside for a chance to see some of the brightest northern lights in the world!* This guided coach tour also gives you a taste of Sami culture as your guide tells you about local folklore and customs while you search for the mysterious auroras. Spend the night at a hotel in Tromsø.

* The northern lights (aurora borealis) are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Day 3: Over Frozen Scenery
Your day begins with a guided snowmobile safari through the Arctic wilderness. Zooming up the trails to an altitude of 875 metres, this excursion gives you some spectacular views! Near the top is a frozen lake, where—time and weather permitting—you have a chance to try ice fishing. Heading back down the hill, the tour ends at the Camp Tamok wilderness centre. For the next leg of your journey, board the Hurtigruten ship at 18:30 for a cruise to Kirkenes. Sailing along the fjord-studded coastline, this voyage offers incredible scenery of Norway’s most famous landscapes along with on-board entertainment, gourmet dining and other relaxing amenities. For nature lovers, we recommend bringing a pair of binoculars!

Spend the night on board the ship in a cabin with private facilities.

Day 4: North Cape at 71° North
Today, the ship makes a stop at the world-famous North Cape (Nordkapp). Situated at 71° north, this area is well known for its beautiful Arctic landscapes and wildlife: bird watchers may enjoy sightings of puffins and gannets along the cliffs and whale watchers might be able to spot Orcas as they hunt for herring. The shore break includes a guided tour of the North Cape Hall in the charming seaside town of Honningsvåg. Spend another night on board the cruise ship.

Day 5: Experience the Snow Hotel
At 9:45 in the morning the ship arrives to Kirkenes, located 400 km (240 miles) above the Arctic Circle in far northern Norway. With a population of just 3,300, including native Sami people, this charming town boasts an impressive range of attractions and winter activities. In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional Norwegian kick-sled ride to the Snow Hotel, your enchanting accommodation for the night. Here, you will enjoy a delicious 3-course feast of local specialties by the fireplace at the hotel’s cosy, wilderness-themed restaurant. Then it’s time to prepare for the night in your special room made of snow and ice!* Spend the night at the Snow Hotel in Kirkenes.

* You will receive a list of what to bring for a comfortable overnight at the Snow Hotel. Thermal sleeping bags, pillows, sheets and bath towels are provided by the hotel.

Day 6: Dog-sledding in the Arctic Wilderness
After a good breakfast and a refreshing trip to the Snow Hotel’s sauna, the kick-sled brings you back to central Kirkenes, where you will check in to your next hotel. Then get ready to experience a true Arctic adventure—a thrilling dog sledding tour through the Pasvik Valley along Norway’s north-eastern border. This activity includes a simple lunch and basic instruction on how to “mush”, or drive a dog sled. Spend the night at a hotel in Kirkenes.

Day 7: Flight to Oslo & Back Home
As your amazing time in Norway has come to an end, fly from Kirkenes to Oslo Gardermoen Airport, where you will connect to your flight home. If you do not have enough time between flights, an additional night in Oslo can be added to your package. Contact us for details.
