WELCOME TO THE ICELAND

Norwegian Cuisine and Old World Charm

For those who delight in good food and wine coupled with rustic fairytale ambience, we welcome you to experience Norwegian cuisine and old world charm at its finest! Imagine feasting on succulent leg of lamb smoked with fresh juniper branches while candle light softly illuminates the romantic rustic surroundings from the 1600’s. Apart from the sounds of nature, all is still, the world is at peace, and everything is just right...

This describes one of the historical destinations in a collection of exclusive inns and luxury hotels focusing on traditional Norwegian cuisine and ambience. Hand plucked from around the country, these “Gjestiveri” provide a unique, and tasty, getaway. Here are just a few to whet your appetite.
Found north of the polar circle, Rundhaug Gjestegård is known for its charm and unique occupants. Built at the turn of the 20th century, its guests have included kings and celebrities, but its most famous occupant is the ghost of Amanda Sandmo, the first proprietor of the inn. Some guests have even claimed to have felt a hand gently stroking their cheek while they slept. At Rundhaug Inn you can experience authentic Norwegian fare with the never-setting midnight sun in summer months or with the mystical northern lights during winter.
Peaceful and romantic describes Petrines Gjestiveri on the east coast of Norway. With cuisine from “Great-grandmother’s kitchen”, you will find yourself back in time with a delicate and traditional atmosphere complete with lace curtains. Outside you can enjoy meandering through flowering meadows, hiking in primeval forests, or salmon fishing by a rushing river.
For nine generations the Nitter Walaker family has operated the nostalgic Walaker Hotel. Located on Sognefjord, one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway and a UNESCO world heritage site, Walaker Hotel is an old-fashioned white washed wooden hotel with traditional gardens complete with lilacs and fruit trees. With an air of a bygone age, this historic hotel also has a wonderful art gallery to complement its exquisite surroundings. The standard of food and wine at Walaker is as superb as the hotel itself.
We at Nordic Visitor understand that your holiday is important to you. It would be our pleasure to serve you so that you can kick back and enjoy what the Nordics have to offer. Welcome to the North!
These are but a few examples of what Norway has to offer. Dotting the countryside, our selection of exclusive inns and hotels may be unique in their appearance and surroundings, but excellent cuisine and old world charm is something they all have in common. Come experience these authentic Norwegian treasures for yourself.
